The Vocal Studio of Christine Marie Li, DMA

Artistry • Pedagogy • Authentic Expression
As an educator, my mission is to help singers find their most authentic, free, and sustainable voice. My studio is a collaborative space where we prioritize student autonomy, artistry, and science-informed technique. Drawing on my doctoral research in vocology and the psychology of 'unlearning,' I aim to provide my students with the tools to navigate performance anxiety and master the mechanics of their unique instrument.
Ultimately, I believe that technique is not the end goal, but an important conduit for the emotional expression at the heart of singing. By refining the physical craft, we create the freedom necessary for true musical storytelling. Whether you are preparing for conservatory auditions or exploring new repertoire, my goal is to sharpen your technical abilities while nurturing your artistic independence. And hopefully, we have fun while doing so!

"Christine is an extremely capable teacher who was immensely valuable to my vocal progress. Her depth of knowledge and pedagogical clarity make lessons productive and efficient, while her judgment-free approach also makes for a safe artistic space with fantastic vibes. Christine’s teaching played a pivotal role in getting into my dream graduate voice program."

- Alec F., tenor, private student, admitted into MM Northwestern

"Christine Li is an exceptional voice teacher. She is endlessly knowledgeable, kind, and highly attuned to each of her students' individual voices and needs. Her warm and open demeanor naturally makes her students feel comfortable - an underrated and crucial piece of effective vocal training. Christine not only guides her students towards what it feels like to sing their best, but she gives them tangible tools and exercises, tailored to each student, that allow them to reach the same vocal freedom both in lessons and at home. I have loved every minute of my lessons with Christine and attribute a great deal of my vocal progress, confidence, and success to studying with her!"

- Natalie L., soprano, private student, admitted into Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, and Manhattan School of Music

"Christine is incredible! I have learned and grown more in two semesters with her than I have in five years of voice lessons. She has the expertise, patience, and tools to help you sing with clarity, support, and less effort. Not only has she nurtured my voice, but also my confidence and passion for performing."

- Kathryn B., soprano, student at University of La Verne

"Working with Christine is an absolute dream, and I could not be happier with my experience taking lessons from her. Not only is she an incredibly empathetic and encouraging teacher, but she is also an extraordinary pedagogue possessing a vast knowledge of vocal technique as well as how to cultivate it in her students. Her ability to accommodate and adjust to her students' needs makes her a fantastic choice for anyone looking to take private voice lessons."
